You've got mail!

Back in the 80's till the mid 90's, letters were the only way of communicating with friends who lived in other cities. Internet was unheard of. Just yesterday I received an email from my friend. I was overjoyed to see a mail from a girl who I studied with me nearly 18 years ago. She was one of my best friends.

In all these years we both tried in our own ways to re-establish contact. But after all these years to get in touch with her under these circumstances was exhilirating. The moment I saw her name, memories came flooding back.It was like as if a clogged dam was finally flowing in full strength. Friends can really make a difference in your lives and I truly believed that.

Words do not always do justice to our emotions. Sometimes I am at a shortage of words to express what I really feel. My friend left school when we were in our third. After that we had no contact. Just a few letters flew hither and thither. But after all these years it's remarkable how the internet makes the world such a small place.

The words " You've got mail " now makes great sense to me. I wish we could rewind life and go back to those carefree moments. But I guess it was timing that our paths should cross now.
