On Saturday night I went for the A. R. Rahman show held in Singapore for the first time. It was one of the world tours he was conducting after a very long time and Singapore was one of the lucky places to have him. You should have seen how he wooed the crowds with his music and the show totally rocked. Several well-known singers like Hariharan, Chitra, Sadhna Sargam all joined him to give this wonderful performance. There was this one good singer who I really liked and admired for his great full-throated voice. His name is Kailash Kher and he sang Yuhin Chala in Ashutosh Gowrikar's film "Swades". Not only was his voice mesmerizing but the amount of energy he had in every song moved the passive crowds to tapping their toes and ultimately jumping to join him. The energy was infectious you should say as people started letting the music haunt them.
The way Shivamani hit the drums it looked like he was exorcising the spirits of the people. The flutist Naveen Kumar played beautiful numbers from
As I slept late on Saturday I got up late on Sunday. Sunday lazed away at home and went to Ikea in the afternoon. Ikea is a furniture store where you get loads of furniture. You should see the kiddoes enjoying in the playpen. They had so much energy in them that I wouldn't have minded joining them as that would be definitely more interesting than looking at household items. That's the funny part in life. People say that when children accumulate knowledge they lose their innocence. But I feel that's totally not true. I feel innocence is within us but we never like to admit it as we feel people will find it childish. When we are small we want to grow up, but when we grow up we want to revert to childhood- the worriless age. In life the transition from child to adult is the toughest one as we are unsure which part of ourselves to keep alive- the kiddish part or the practical side. It is at times like this that when we encounter kids, we feel the need to become one with them again and forget ourselves and most importantly our age. I believe there is a kid in each of us. No matter how much we age the child in us will never die and I personally feel to experience life to the fullest we need to let go of our emotions and take the extra step to discover that childish part of ourselves. By bridging the gap between both these lives, life according to me would be more fruitful and exciting to live each day. What do you think? IF you have a kid within you, its high time you unleashed it, for by suppressing it you're only destroying what is naturally yours.
