Today, my friend and I decided to go to Mocha. It had been 3 years since we had stepped into that place. We were welcomed with the flavoured smell of hookahs. Young boys in their late teens smoked away on the hookahs making us wonder what stress they had in life. As we were mere observers we tried to contemplate the changing scene around us. While waiting for our food to arrive...we heard boys bantering, air filling with fumes and girls flitting around like social butterflies. The girl who served us was thankfully gracious and REAL...( That's the main reason I put it in caps)unlike everything else around us.
Finally the food arrived. We started with this delicious chicken roll which melted in our mouths as we took the first bite. Bun was toasted just right and the chicken had been well-marinated in spices. My friend generously mixed Tomato sauce and Tabasco sauce. Dipping these little rolls in them...hmm the taste was indescribable.
Having had our fill of something spicy, we moved on to something sweet.Off-late,both of us were engaged in finding the perfect chocolate dessert and I should say that the dessert we had today was purely divine. The chocolate crusted lava cake came along with a scoop of coffee ice cream at the side. Clinking our spoons in delight, we acted graciously by taking lady-like bites. The first spoon of the lava cake was so good...we were speechless. It turned out to be even better than the last time we had a similar dessert at Blur cafe in Sathyam theatre. Trying to maintain the flow of conversation as we attacked the cupful of sin, we finally managed to finish it between the both of us commending ourselves on ordering only one. Two would have been....( U CAN IMAGINE)
Finally, we settled on individual milkshakes. Wishing it wasn't as heavy as the beginning of the meal, we sipped daintily on the straws as we stretched a bit to expand our content tummies. At the end of the meal, we again became aware of the surroundings around us. It was like as if the food pushed us into a trance where we forgot the noise of the chitter - chatter or the fumes that perfumed the air.
While we were travelling home, we both realized what all we had consumed in that short span of time. The good thing was we never discussed the calories we might have put on while we indulged in such sins, but the time we spent together enjoying them. As we ruminated on the quality time we spent, we arrived at the conclusion that ' If the food ain't yummy, then friends aren't chummy'. Now that's something worth pondering on...
