Wakey Achey

Sometimes it's so funny that we get up early only to laze around again. The slightest noise and I get up only to find myself dozing again moments later on the couch. I guess we all feel that way at times. The weather here in Singapore does it to you I guess. Or maybe it's just the mere fact that we have time on our hands to do what we want. I was seeing this TV programme here called What Women Want. It comes on Channel News Asia. They were interviewing this young Chinese lady who felt strongly that massaging the body twice a week was enough to be fit. What made me roll in laughter was the fact that madam doesn't even walk to the bus stop; she takes the cab to get there too. What a lazy lout some people can turn out to be. Imagine if she wanted to get to the MRT and her feet wouldn't listen, would she take a cab to shuttle between the two ends of the MRT? Just the thought makes me smile and pity a poor soul like her who is so lazy to take even a few steps out her door. Even the interviewee spoke about the adverse effects of such practices in the long run, but what to do when people have the money to squander away and spas to keep them off treadmills. They would rather sleep away the rest of their life in bliss than run on the treadmill. What silly things people end up doing in life for the sake of convenience and modernity. Like Shakespeare put it:

To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect

That makes calamity of so long life;

It's weird that sometimes when we are awake we see visions fleeting in front of our eyes. That makes me think twice whether only by sleeping dreams haunt us. I feel it's not always true as certain things I visualize while I am awake tend to take place just a few minutes later. Whether it's telepathy or whatever pathy I don't know, but we only start believing in things when it happens repeatedly. Though these insights are refreshing, there are times when I feel secure in not knowing things at all. "Ignorance is bliss" after all. It's like life. We know what it holds for us, but we don't stop living it. Just like my love for dark chocolate even though it's bitter. Mmmm even mentioning it makes my mouth water. Am addicted to dark chocolates, how about you?
